2025 Milton and Ruth Roemer Prize for Creative Local Public Health Work Award

The Milton and Ruth Roemer Prize for Creative Local Public Health Work is awarded to a local health officer or a county, city or other unit of local government, in recognition for outstanding creative and innovative public health work.

The prize was endowed by two devoted members of the American Public Health Association, Milton Roemer, MD, and Ruth Roemer, JD, both envisioned an annual prize to honor a public health worker engaged in innovative public health services in their community.

 

Requirements

Criteria: For this prize, public health work refers to organizing public efforts, intended to protect, advance or recover the health of the general population or special populations. Priority given to a health officer whose work other health officers can replicate, and who has overcome opposition, and has mobilized popular support for his/her work.


Nomination Process: The nominator is responsible for submitting a complete nomination form, letters of support, CV or detailed resume.

Nature of the Award: The award consists of a $2,000 honorarium, a commemorative plaque, round trip airfare, two nights lodging and meeting registration.

Failure to include all supporting documents will result in an incomplete application.
