Description
The Sera Day Coryell Nursing Education Scholarship provides scholarship support for graduating seniors attending high school in San Luis Obispo County. Sera Day Coryell aspired to be a Nurse Practitioner and despite significant medical challenges was attaining her goal when she died unexpectedly. Her ability to make people feel at ease, her intelligence and motivation suggested that she would have been an outstanding nurse. Her family and friends created the scholarship for individuals who likewise wish to become nurses.Requirements
Eligibility:a) Applicant is currently a senior attending any high school in San Luis Obispo County, including home-schooled students.
b) Applicant plans to attend full-time (minimum course load of 15 units) at a four-year college with an approved Registered Nursing Program.
Selection Criteria
a) Demonstration of academic achievement; and,
b) Demonstration of financial need; and,
c) An essay describing career aspirations and how this scholarship will help the candidate overcome special challenges; and,
d) Two letters of recommendation, one academic and one community member, attesting to the student’s ability to become a Registered Nurse.
The amount of the award will be $2,000.
