Mentor Student Application - 2020 NatureBridge in Yosemite Program

Description

  • This application is for students who would like to participate in the Yosemite Program a  second time.  If selected, student agrees to assist new students at their school before the trip by talking about their experience,  answering questions about the application and community service, and generally helping new students through the process.  In Yosemite, Mentor Students help new students with expectations and as needed.
  • The program is scheduled for Sunday, April 5 through Friday, April 10, 2020.  Is this spring break for your school?

    Space is limited.  Not all students who submit an application will be selected to participate. 

Requirements

Applicant requirements:

  • Applicant may not be an adult (18 years old) at the time of the trip.
  • Applicant participated in 2019  NatureBridge in Yosemite Program.
  • Applicant is a junior or senior at a public high school, continuation school, alternative school of choice, or public charter school located in Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity and Modoc Counties, and Big Valley High School in Lassen County
  • Applicant must request a recommendation from at least one McConnell chaperone familiar with student’s  behavior and previous experience in Yosemite Program.
  • If selected, student attends parent/student pre-trip orientation to offer first-hand information.
  • Student must be physically able to participate in  all outdoor activities in Yosemite.
The "cost" to  selected students is the same as the first year:  8 hours of community service related to the environment and a $50.00 refundable security deposit.
