HISTORY
Anna Burnell Booko was born January 12, 1924 in Wakefield, Michigan. She was a graduate of Augustina Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1945. Upon graduation she continued to work at Augustina Hospital (now Lutheran General) and later served as a visiting nurse.

Burnell was married to Pastor John Booko for almost 62 years and was the mother of four children and sixteen grandchildren. She was known for her serving heart. Burnell led various ministries, played the organ at Hohner Funeral Home and Halverson Chapel and volunteered at the free Riverside Health Clinic.  She was a devout Christian, whom loved the Lord, her husband John, and her family.

PURPOSE
To provide financial assistance to graduates of the Three Rivers High School, Howardsville Christian School and home schooled students within the Three Rivers area wishing to attend a school of higher learning to pursue a career in nursing.

AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship shall be in the amount of $500.

Requirements

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants for this scholarship must satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Graduation from Three Rivers High School, Howardsville Christian School or TR Homeschool within the Three Rivers area; not limited to high school graduating seniors
  2. Continuing education in the field of nursing
  3. Be available for a personal interview with the scholarship selection committee 
INSTRUCTIONS
Complete the required information.  All information submitted will be kept in the strictest confidence.

  • Scholarship Applications must be submitted by March 1st for consideration.
  • Provide one (1) letter of recommendation from a business or professional person.
  • Include a copy of your school transcripts.
