Pantry Project

Description

In February 2017 The Auburn Public Schools Foundation launched the Pantry Project, designed to help the district's elementary, middle, and high schools establish and maintain an on-hand supply of food and hygiene products.  As part of this grant, schools may apply for periodic funding from APSF to cover the cost of pantry supplies including:

  • Food (Fresh or packaged) to supplement Food to Go, mid-morning snacks, before or after school activities, or other needs;
  • Hygiene items (toothpaste and brushes, shampoo and conditioner, soap and wipes, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, etc.;
  • (Under) clothing;
  • Other basic related supplies.

We are thankful for our partners in and donors that support the Pantry Project:
Hops N Drops | MultiCare Health Foundation | Muckleshoot Foundation | Auburn Rotary

Grant sizes vary based on available funding, but are typically between $250-$500. Schools can apply on an as-needed basis. These funds are typically managed by the Health Tech/Principal at each school and are not to be silo'd in any one department. These funds are to be used to support any and every student in need of food, clothing, and hygiene items.

Requirements

The APSF requires grant recipients to:

  • Use all grant funds within one year of award or return the unused balance;
  • Acquire and relay information regarding the impact of the pantry supplies to APSF. Example: kinds of supplies acquired and provided, number of children receiving assistance, specific stories of help the foundation provided, etc.
  • Communicate in a timely manner any challenges, delays, or setbacks in the implementation of the pantry project.
