COVID-19 Relief Microgrants

PROGRAM DEADLINE: January 01, 2021 at 12:00 PM EST (Noon) - CLOSED

This program is inactive or past the deadline.

Description

The prolonged impact of COVID-19 has caused increased economic challenge for many of our churches and conferences. We seek to provide financial assistance to local church ministries in crisis by repurposing and redirecting established grant funding for one year.

Our goal is to release resources with the least amount of red tape, towards directed initiatives needed while maintaining accountability for the funds and integrity of donor intent.  Having said this, there are needs that we are not able to support directly through these funding sources, such as: absent salaries, stipends, and individual needs.

However, we can grant to congregations (as well as conferences who are applying on behalf of congregations), who may choose to use those funds towards operational cost (e.g. staffing). Where we can help, we want to as freely as we can, to allow recipients to use funds as they prioritize their own needs.

Requirements

The United Church of a Christ, Justice and Local Church Ministry Emergency Response to Covid-19 relief funds will be used to provide aid to eligible churches adversely impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19). This funding is not applicable for cases in which long-term financial support is needed. It is intended to be used only for issues directly related to the impact of the coronavirus. The maximum grant shall not exceed $3,000.  The final decision of the awarded amount will be based on funding availability. Congregations can only be awarded funding for either the COVID19 impacted congregation fund, or the community garden project, but not both.
