Description

The Yinghsia Shih Li Memorial Scholarship, a four-year scholarship,  was established by Raymond Li  to honor the memory of his wife. Yinghsia Shih Li was a scientist who desired to support young women graduating from high schools in Lucia Mar Unified School district who will pursue a career in science.

Requirements

Eligibility Criteria:
a) Applicant is a graduating female senior attending high school in Lucia Mar Unified School District (Arroyo Grande, Central Coast New Tech, Lopez, or Nipomo); and,
b) Applicant plans to attend full-time (15 units/term) at an approved four-year public or private, not-for-profit college/university; and,
c) Applicant is planning to pursue a degree in science (Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Mathematics or Physics); and,
d) Applicant has demonstrated financial need.

Selection Criteria:
a) Demonstration of academic achievement with strong academic performance in science and math; and,
b) Demonstration of involvement in school or community activities; and,
c) Demonstration of the desire to acquire a college degree in science.

NOTE: Financial need must be demonstrated through Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Student Aid Report (SAR) submission.

The award total of $10,000 is to be distributed over a four year period, $2,500/year, providing the student maintains full-time status as a science major with and a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.
