Scholarships for Scholars Creative Writing 2020-2021

Description
Scholarships for Scholars will award scholarships in 18 categories this year. The award may be used for tuition, books, room, and/or meals at the institution of higher education of the recipient's choice.Students may submit separate applications in up to two distinct categories. Students cannot be awarded more than one scholarship.
Honorary scholarships in the amounts of $9,000, $8,000 and $7,000 are also awarded. Students who submit an application will be eligible for automatic consideration for an honorary scholarship; students do not apply for the honorary scholarships.
Scholarships for Scholars reserves the right to not award a scholarship in any particular category.
Scholarships are awarded without regard to financial need, race, gender, age, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or familial status.
Requirements
• Graduating high school student residing in Anne Arundel County.• Attend a public or accredited private school in Anne Arundel County or a home-schooled program registered with the AACPS Board of Education.
• Minimum weighted GPA of 3.75.
• Will attend an accredited college or university as a full time student.
• Submit two examples that exhibit the scope and depth of a student’s work, typed in 12 point Ariel or Times.
• Demonstrate originality in written artistic expression in lyric or narrative genres, such as poetry, short story, drama, creative non-fiction or other forms. Submissions exhibit exemplary technique and style, form and craft that affect readers’ emotions and influence readers’ thoughts.
• Only written discourse will be considered; no PowerPoint presentations.
