Stand for Children is a non-profit education advocacy organization focused on ensuring all students receive a high-quality and relevant education - especially those whose potential is overlooked because of their skin color, zip code, first language, or disability.

The Beat the Odds Scholarship program was started in 2007 to emphasize the critical role that education plays in helping students meet challenges and land on a path to success.  The program is a partnership between Stand for Children Oregon and the Renaissance Foundation.

The Beat the Odds Scholarship is a $4,000 renewable award for Lane County high school seniors who are overcoming adversity and succeeding in school.

Up to four $4,000 renewable scholarships will be awarded to students who attend public schools in Lane County in February 2021.

• Have succeeded in spite of hardships such as poverty, disability, homelessness, systemic inequalities, personal tragedy, or similar.

Scholarship awards are contingent on acceptance into an accredited 2 or 4-year college program for the 2021-2022 academic year. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college.
