SHPE and Medtronic have partnered together to provide the opportunity for interns to participate in the SHPE Medtronic College Fund Partnership for Summer 2022.

These full-time (40 hours/week), paid positions are 11-12 weeks in length. Medtronic will offer housing assistance (for out of state interns), relocation expense reimbursement, and educational and social events throughout the summer. The summer internship opportunities are available across the U.S; including Minnesota, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Arizona, Massachusetts, Tennessee and Florida. Salary minimum: $24.25 per hour; Salary maximum: $28 per hour. 

A Day in the Life at Medtronic

You will use software engineering tools and methods to define requirements and to design, verify, and implement your project.  Under the direction of a more experienced engineer, you will prepare plans for your own work, participate in technical reviews, implement advances in current state-of-the-art technology and identify opportunities for productivity and quality improvement. 

Within the Software Development Life Cycle, you may use agile methods to explore AI, ML, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, mobile, GUI.

Requirements

Must Have

To be considered for a summer 2022 engineering internship, you must meet the following basic requirements. You must clearly indicate on your resume how you meet these criteria to be considered for a position.

  • Bachelor’s degree student with a sophomore or junior level class standing
  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, computer or software engineering, electrical engineeirng, or related engineering major
  • A minimum 3.0 out of a 4.0 cumulative GPA
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis and does not require sponsorship in the future for an employment visa
  • Participants must be able to participate full time (40 hours/week) as part of our intern cohort from Monday, June 6 - Friday, August 19

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of one or more of the following technologies is required: C, C++, C#/.NET, Java, Web Technologies, Xamarin, mobile technologies, design patterns, SQL, Database technologies, XML, Perl, Python, MATLAB
  • Familiarity or interest in one or more of the following areas: Agile, Scrum, DevOps, Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) Pipeline, Version Control, TFS, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Product documentation, Process Documentation
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Prior work on projects in a team environment preferred
  • Relevant academic projects, internship, or lab experience preferred
