Orthopaedic Research Internship

PROGRAM DEADLINE: January 15, 2023 at 11:59 PM CST (Midnight) - CLOSED

This program is inactive or past the deadline.

Description

There's nothing like real-world experience to enhance a resume and make a mark on the world. Each summer, the Kappa Delta Foundation offers an opportunity for Kappa Delta collegians to intern at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, Tennessee, one of the leading orthopaedic research centers in the country. This internship is a great addition to KD's long-standing support of orthopaedic research through the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

With direction by Kappa Delta alumna Karen Hasty, Ph.D., Susan Miranda, Ph.D., and other acclaimed orthopaedic researchers, interns work on a basic science research project for 6 weeks. They also attend lab meetings, journal clubs, and orthopaedic surgery training conferences given by faculty from Campbell Clinic, an internationally recognized orthopaedic clinic. Interns will learn about applying to graduate school and medical school, tour the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, speak with women orthopedic residents, observe a surgery, and tour the KD National Headquarters. And of course, eat Memphis BBQ. (Activities are subject to change.)

The internship begins on Monday, June 12, and ends on Friday, July 21. Housing is provided by the foundation, and interns receive an expense reimbursement provided by the Kappa Delta Foundation through UTHSC. Interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from Memphis and throughout the duration of the internship. A personal vehicle is strongly recommended.

The deadline to submit an application is January 15, 2023 at 11:59PM CST. All forms must be completed electronically. Note: You may save your application and return to finish it at any time, but it must be completed by January 15, 2023 to remain eligible. A confirmation email will be sent to your primary email upon completion.

If you have questions, please email Huda Nutt, foundation programs coordinator, at huda.nutt@kappadelta.org.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have never created an account on SmarterSelect, you will need to create a new account before signing in.
