Description
The Stephen Donnellan Moss Memorial Scholarship in Journalism Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students at California Polytechnic State University- San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly). Steve Moss founded two alternative weekly newspapers on California's Central Coast (New Times and Santa Maria Sun) and created the 55-word short-story contest that brought entries to the New Times from as far away as Sri Lanka and Pakistan.Requirements
Eligibility Criteria:a) Applicant must be currently attending Cal Poly as a full-time student majoring in Journalism and pursuing the News Track.
Selection Criteria:
a) Applicant must be a member of the sophomore class or higher;
b) Applicant has a demonstrated commitment to journalism beyond academic achievement;
c) Applicant demonstrates a commitment to the San Luis Obispo County community;
d) Applicant describes career intentions in essay format;
e) Applicant has demonstrated financial need.
