2023 Vancouver Rotary Scholarship

PROGRAM DEADLINE: February 28, 2023 at 11:59 PM PST (Midnight) - CLOSED

This program is inactive or past the deadline.

Description

VANCOUVER ROTARY is a part of ROTARY INTERNATIONAL, a worldwide organization of business and professional people dedicated to service, fellowship, and the promotion of peace.

Rotary was started in 1905 in Chicago, and now has 35,000 clubs and 1.2 million members in almost every country in the world. Rotary's motto is SERVICE ABOVE SELF, and that is what we do, worldwide, and in Vancouver. Our biggest international project is the eradication of polio. Since 1988, throughout the world, we have seen a 99.9% reduction in new cases of this crippling disease.

In addition to ending polio, Rotary clubs all over the world are involved in countless projects designed to fight disease, reduce poverty, promote education, and to achieve peace through communication and mutual understanding.

VANCOUVER ROTARY was founded in 1921, and we are proud to be part of this worldwide organization. Here in Vancouver, we give back to our community through service projects such as helping at food banks, placing "Peace Poles" at schools, and sponsoring the community Christmas tree lighting. Most importantly, we award scholarships to deserving students, who by their actions exemplify our motto of SERVICE ABOVE SELF. To date, we have awarded more than 1.5 million dollars to help local students achieve their educational goals.

By filling out this application, you are becoming a part of a century-old tradition of community service.
