Description

The Dorothy Ross Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the volunteer work and service that Dorothy Ross contributed to the young people San Luis Obispo county as a mentor in the Juvenile Hall. Dorothy Ross believed that every young individual has a special gift, and something to give back to the world.  This program honors Dorothy’s legacy and her belief in the young people she cared about so deeply. 

This scholarship is intended to aid young people impacted by crime to further their education.  The scholarship is open to youth who have been involved in the Juvenile Justice System in San Luis Obispo County and plan to attend a community college, four-year college/university, or certified vocational program.

Eligibility:

  • School Level: High School or College
  • Term: 1-Year
  • GPA: Not Considered
  • Demonstrated Financial Need: No
  • Type of College: Community college, 4-Year college/university, or Vocational school
  • Major: Not considered
  • Other Requirements: Must be 18-25 years old AND have spent in the Juvenile Justice System OR spent time in the San Luis Obispo County Juvenile Detention Services Center.
  • Renewable: Yes
